Morden Hall Wedding Photography
You may remember Ellie and Rory from their chilly Richmond Park engagement shoot. The weather on their wedding day couldn’t have been more different! London was bathed in glorious sunshine and the night ended with a huge electrical storm late at night.
I arrived at Morden Hall in the morning to capture all the bridal preparations. The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed. Ellie handed out gifts for her bridesmaids before a stunning breakfast was brought out (including plenty of cheese, which is always a firm favourite).
A Quintessential London Wedding
Once everyone was ready, Ellie and her father hopped into a white London taxi cab and travelled to St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church near their home in Clapham. Rory and his groomsmen made the most of the sunshine that morning, grabbing a cheeky beer to calm their nerves.
After a beautiful ceremony, two bright red retro double-decker buses transported everyone back through the city to Morden Hall. And what greeted them upon their arrival? A gin station. Possibly the finest idea for reception drinks I’ve ever seen.
Perfect Portraits and Plenty of Dancing
Although tucked away in the heart of South London, Morden Hall is an 18th century country house set within 125 acres of National Trust parkland. There were so many great locations nearby, I split the couple’s portrait session in two, shooting first in the afternoon and again during ‘golden hour’ just before sunset. The evening light was spectacular.
For their wedding breakfast, Ellie and Rory had the Mulberry room transformed with long tables and masses of greenery suspended overhead. It made an ideal setting for the wedding breakfast and speeches that followed.
After cutting the cake and shimmying through their first dance as husband and wife, it was time for some serious dancing. Guests were right behind them, pulling shapes the whole night long. And that storm, with torrential rain and all? It turned out to be the perfect way to cool off when leaving the party!
Congratulations once again to Ellie and Rory! Hereâs to you! Thanks so much for having me there at your wedding.
