JJ Wimborne wedding photography
As a photographer, I do enjoy shooting in photo studios now and again â mostly on personal photo projects. I never thought Iâd see the day, though, when I would get to shoot an actual wedding reception in one! Huge windows, clean white surfaces, snazzy styling â a photographerâs dream! However, this is exactly what happened with the most excellent Jess and Nick this July when they held their reception at JJ Wimborne in Shoreditch.
Iâve known Jess and her family since I was a kid growing up, and being there for her wedding day was a huge privilege. It was also no surprise, knowing both her and Nick now, that it would be an effortlessly cool and laid back affair. (Especially so after their Haggerston engagement shoot.) Doing away with plenty of the more orthodox wedding traditions, their day was truly refreshing and so much fun to shoot.

Starting off at the Courthouse Hotel in Shoreditch, Jess and Nick got ready together and headed over to Clissold House in Stoke Newington in the same cab. After their ceremony, a veritable fleet of Addison Lees arrived to ferry everyone the short distance south to Shoreditch. On arrival there were glasses of prosecco, games of table tennis and a wandering band to greet everyone. Following that, there was a truly delicious wedding breakfast from Native Feasts.
Then, after some of the wittiest and funniest speeches Iâve seen in a long time, the party really got started. Jess and Nick opted out of cutting a cake or having a first dance and let everyone get on with what they wanted to do â get onto the dancefloor! Or, eat cheese. There was a lot of cheese and Iâm not saying I ate a lot of it (but I did â cheddar is my weakness). The dancing carried on until late, and Iâve got to say that these guys know how to party.
A huge thank you to Jess and Nick for having me there to cover their wedding â it was awesome. All the best, you two!
Adios,
WP
