‘Will – just wanted to say we’ve had a quick look through and absolutely love the photos! It’s going to take a while for us to go through them all but already so many favourites. I know we said it before but we really can’t thank you enough for all the hard work you’ve put in. We will treasure these pictures forever and flicking through that gallery makes us feel like we’re back there!’Annabelle + Stuart

Winter has the best light.
Most people think it happens in the Summer. But when our Northern hemisphere leans away from the sun every year, the light has further to travel. And good things are worth waiting for, even if it’s only a few milliseconds. When you hit the middle of the afternoon it flies in fast and low, skimming the treetops and landing, finally, with a welcome warmth on everyone below.
Such was the light at Annabelle and Stuart’s winter wedding last year at Hedingham Castle. I started my day with a relaxed morning in the pub with Stuart and the boys, sitting next to the fire and giving ear scratches to the landlord’s dog.
I joined Annabelle in a cottage near the castle as she and her bridesmaids finished getting ready. It was a calm morning, quiet and still, as that wonderful winter light started to appear.
A short ride up the driveway and we were off to the races, figuratively speaking, as their wedding day got properly started. A beautiful ceremony, then drinks and Christmas tunes, followed by dinner and dancing until the end of the night.
Proof, if proof were needed, that Winter weddings are some of the best around. Stuart and Annabelle, thank you so much for having me there. It was a delight to shoot your day and I wish I could do it all over again!
