Haggerston engagement shoot
This Haggerston engagement shoot was great fun. When a couple of mine lives near me, I always see what could work a short bus ride away from where we all are. In this case, Haggerston in North London seemed like a great shout. What’s so great about Haggerston? Well, apart from all the great spots to shoot in, it’s full of great coffee and brunch places. (It’s also got one of my favourite board game spots of all time, Draughts.) It was in one of these great brunch places that Jess, Nick and I met a few weeks back before their shoot. Their wedding was only a couple of weeks away, so it was great to catch up and spend some time shooting with them.
Engagement shoots are brill
I’ve always been a proponent of engagement shoots. They’re a great way to get used to being in front of the camera, to get to know one another a bit better and to document a moment in time. In a city like London, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the number of places to shoot in. My rule of thumb? If the area’s got a good vibe, you’re onto a winner before you’ve even started. I seldom do detailed planning for engagement shoots apart from where we’re going and at what time (and maybe a bit of googling in advance). I like to see what’s there when we get there. See what the light’s doing. See how everyone’s feeling. Then… take it from there and get creative.
It should also be mentioned that Jess and Nick’s wedding was an absolute blast, too. I’m in the middle of editing it as we speak, and I can’t wait to feature it on the blog very soon!
What about you?
