Guildford wedding photography
When Alice met Rob, she was dressed as a zebra and he was dressed as a leopard. Pretty standard, right? Well, if you’ve ever been to the Rugby 7s at Twickenham, then yes it very much is! Sensing the chemistry already at work, a mutual friend of theirs cunningly engineered the match. 3 years after that, on a stunning holiday to Turkey, they were engaged. A year after that, they were married. And what a marriage it was. I used to work with Alice in my old job before I became a wedding photographer full time, and it was a real honour to be there to photograph her day. So before I even write about this wedding, a huge thanks to Alice for having me there.
Arriving at their family home in Guildford on the morning of the wedding, I could already tell that this would be a day to remember. The sun was out, the marquee just up the road was all prepared, and the guests were converging on Holy Trinity Church, right in the centre of Guildford.
After a stunning ceremony, featuring an incredible choir, Alice and Rob’s exit from the church definitely made an impression on the people of Guildford; the steps down from the church lead straight to the high street and a crowd had gathered for their departure. After the happy couple drove off in their Rolls, a flag-bearing usher then took the crowd back up the road for celebrations, provided by the fantastic Rhubarb Events team.
It’s not often that I comment on the food at a wedding, but I absolutely have to for this one. Alice and Rob had previously told me that they are BIG foodies. And it really showed! For the main course, a ‘carver’ from each table was chosen, taken outside and given a chef’s hat, apron and a giant board of lamb to bring back in. This has to be one of the best things I’ve ever photographed at a wedding because of the sheer delight on the faces of the guests. What made it even better was that it was all set to the conga! Too good.
After some hilarious but moving speeches and a beautiful first dance from the bride and groom, the party kicked into gear until the wee small hours. As I drove home that evening, I had a huge grin on my face the entire way home. It was truly awesome to be there on their big day, and I’m so exicted to share the below images on my blog.
